Plane Skids Off Runway in Turkey

A passenger plane skidded off a runway in northern Turkey last night, leaving it dangling precariously over the side of a muddy cliff.

All 162 passengers on board the Boeing 737-800 survived the landing with no injuries in what is being called a 'miracle' by some. The incident, which took place at Trabzon Airport on Turkey's Black Sea coast, is under investigation by authorities, who have yet to figure out why the plane veered off the runway while landing.

Photographs from the scene show the plane stuck on a muddy slope, only a few feet from the sea below. Passengers and crew were evacuated from the plane early Sunday, with some waiting inside for nearly twenty minutes for emergency services to arrive.

"It's a miracle we escaped. We could have burned, exploded, flown into the sea," Yuksel Gordu, a passenger on the flight told Anadolu news agency. "Thank God for this. I feel like I'm going crazy when I think about it."

Flights were suspended at Trabzon airport for several hours before finally resuming. The flight originated out of Turkey's capital, Ankara.
