Whittier Mayor Joe Vinatieri joined us to talk about a new initiative, to change the horrible prison reform laws that have enabled too many violent criminals to commit heinous acts against the public and law enforcement.
Under current California law, the following crimes are not classified as "violent:"
- Rape of an unconscious person
- Child trafficking
- Assault with a deadly weapon
- Domestic violence
- Child abuse
This new initiative called the “Reducing Crime and Keeping California Safe Act of 2018" would make those crimes "violent." They need to be called "violent" because they are. No more of this nonsense, stop giving dangerous criminals a pass!
Initiative proponents plan on collecting 600,000 signatures by April 30, 2018 to ensure the 365,880 valid signatures for the general election ballot this November.
