Homeless encampments along riverbed in Orange and Anaheim to be cleared out

Officials in Orange County are planning to clear the massive homeless encampments along the Santa Ana River in Anaheim and Orange within 3 weeks.

O.C. Supervisor Todd Spitzer confirmed that the county will clear out the camps on January 22nd. Notices will be posted on Tuesday along the riverbed warning the homeless that they will have to get out soon.

Supervisor Spitzer told the O.C. Register:

“We’re not going to allow this to become Orange County’s Skid Row, and that’s the way it’s operating now. This is the northern gateway to our county and it’s not safe for habitation, especially during the anticipated rainy season.”
