Driver, Passenger Arrested After Wild Chase

MONTEBELLO, Calif. (AP) — A driver and passenger were tackled and arrested after leading police on a wild, mostly slow-speed chase in a stolen rental pickup in Southern California.

The pursuit lasted more than an hour as it wound through several cities, then ended when the truck stopped in Montebello east of Los Angeles shortly after noon Wednesday.

The U-Haul truck blew a front tire and ran for several miles on a bare rim. At one point the pickup collided with another vehicle in an intersection. No injuries were immediately reported.

The driver and passenger sat in the truck for more than a half-hour before embracing and exiting. They were tackled and taken into custody by officers.
