An 89-year-old California woman says she's struggling to prove she's alive after the government declared her dead. Carmen Gonzalez of Glendale says her Social Security checks dried up in October. When her family asked why, they were told someone reported Gonzalez was dead.
Gonzalez's granddaughter tells KTLA-TV the Social Security Administration informed her that her grandmother is dead. Doris Langoria says she fired back saying, "No she's not."
Langoria says her grandmother's mistaken death has led to the cancellation of Medicare and other healthcare coverage. The family claims Social Security has informed them the mistake will be fixed.
