Psychologist Sends Treasury Secretary Manure

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A clinical psychologist with the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health waited today to find out how having left a gift-wrapped box of horse manure outside the Bel-Air home of U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin to protest the new tax plan will affect his life.

Dr. Robert Strong, who goes by ``Dr. Robert'' on Twitter, took responsibility for the package in which he included a handwritten note that said: ``Dear Misters Trump and Mnuchin, we are returning your Christmas gift of the Republican tax plan because it's complete horse.... Sincerely, the American people.''

Strong, who agrees with critics who say the policy favors the rich at the expense of the poor and working class, was referring to the $1.5 trillion tax overhaul approved last week by the U.S. Congress and signed Friday by President Donald Trump.

The package, discovered at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at 965 Bel Air Road, was a box filled with manure and wrapped in Christmas paper, said Sgt. R. Briggs of the Los Angeles Police Department's West Los Angeles Station.

The bomb squad X-rayed the package and opened it to reveal the contents, she said. It consisted of a ``pretty good quantity'' of horse manure, police said.

A neighbor discovered the package and alerted authorities. No injuries or evacuations resulted from the stunt, but Bel Air Road was closed until 8 p.m. Saturday for an investigation.

Secret Service officials, who have taken over the investigation into the manure caper, are aware of the stunt, but by this morning there have been no reports that Strong has been contacted. However, he told KPPC radio that he realizes he could get fired and face other consequences.

``In the long run,'' said Strong, who has been active with the Occupy L.A. movement, according to the Los Angeles Times, ``if we don't do stuff like this, what are we going to have left.''
