The first day of winter is bringing some wicked weather to Southern California. Strong Santa Ana winds began blowing through most of the region last night and are expected to continue through today in some parts. Fire crews in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties battling the 272,000 Thomas Fire welcomed the chilly temps, but say the potential for the fire to flare up is real.
Officials say there is light drizzle in the forecast, but not enough to do any damage to the flames. The fire is now 60-percent contained with full containment expected in January several weeks after it started.
