In spite of this, we try to do what we can when it comes to Internet security - and the password is one of the first lines of defense.
There's a plethora of solid tips for building a strong password: use a phrase combined with numbers and/or special characters, throw in a foreign word, etc.
Keep it unique. Keep it secret. Keep it safe.
But we aren't all creative, uber password generators, and a new study reveals just how true this is.
SplashData, a password management applications provider, has revealed its 25 most-commonly used options people chose to secure their computer this year.
The list was created by analyzing more than five million passwords leaked during various data breaches in 2017:
