Los Angeles International Airport is doing what it can to make flying in and out of LAX easier for those driving to and from the airport. LAX Chief Experience Officer Barbara Yamamoto says a record 4.3 million people will fly through the airport during the holidays.
"We know that also means the increase in traffic in our central terminal loop. This year, we're expecting about 1.9 million vehicles dropping off, or picking up passengers at LAX."
Yamamoto says the busiest travel day this season will be Saturday, December 23rd as more than a quarter million people are expected that day.
All those travelers will also have a new way to navigate the airport and maybe find a bite to eat thanks to Apple Maps. LAX Chief Technology officer Justin Irbacci says those passengers who have an iPhone or iPad with iOS 11 installed can use the Maps feature to find bars, restaurants, and shops in airport terminals.
"In the future we anticipate even more functionality including innovative way finding for those with disabilities, integration with wait times and information about special events in our terminals."
Maps have been rolled out at a few dozen other airports around the world. According to LAX officials the slowest travel days are expected to be Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
