CalTrans to Shutdown Five Freeway Near 605 For Bridge Demolition

States Await Passage Of Stimulus Package For Infrastructure Projects

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The California Department of Transportation today announced an additional overnight full freeway closure of Interstate 5 northbound and southbound between Interstate 605 and Norwalk Boulevard, with related ramp closures for Florence Avenue bridge demolition tonight.

The closures are subject to change and are scheduled as follows:

-- Northbound I-5, all lanes from Norwalk Blvd. to I-605 (11:59 p.m. tonight to 5 a.m. Friday)

-- Southbound I-5, all lanes from I-605 to Imperial Highway (11:59 p.m. to 5 a.m.)

-- Northbound I-605 connector ramp to southbound I-5 (7 p.m. to 5 a.m.)

-- Southbound I-605 connector ramp to southbound I-5 (7 p.m. to 5 a.m.)

-- Florence Ave. closed in both directions between Studebaker Road and Orr & Day Road (8 p.m. to 5 a.m.)

Detours with signs will be in place.

The closures will allow the demolition of the second half of the Florence Avenue bridge. Reconstruction of the second half of the bridge is expected to be completed by late summer of 2018.
