An illegal alien from Mexico who had been deported from the United States 20 times was sentenced in Oregon to 35 years in prison, after pleading guilty to kidnapping, sodomy, sex abuse, and other charges in separate attacks on two women.

He attacked the women in Portland on July 24th, one in her home and the other in a parking garage.

Sergio Jose Martinez, 31, told his victims' families that he would see them in hell after the sentence came down on Friday.

A brother of one of the victims told Martinez:

"Sergio, no sentencing is enough . I rather you rot in hell."

The sentencing came the day after illegal alien Jose Ines Garcia Zarate was found not guilty in the killing of Kate Steinle.

Martinez's lawyer Jonathan Sarre said:

"Unfortunately, after Zarate got acquitted, Martinez is now the boogeyman of the face of immigration."

One week before Martinez attacked his victims, he was let out of jail in Portland where he was serving time for interfering with police and giving them a fake birth date. He was let go despite a request from ICE for the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office to hold him so he could be taken into federal custody.

Sheriff Michael Reese said:

"He was released consistent with the orders of the court. No federal or state criminal warrants were present at the time he left our custody."

ICE will be able to take Martinez into custody after 35 years if they monitor his release date. He'll be 66-years-old if he gets out.

A spokesperson for ICE said that the agency will want Martinez transferred into its custody when he finishes his sentence so he can be deported.
