(Kevin Rojas - Jacksonville Sheriff's Office)
A Florida man who repeatedly shot an undercover police officer was sentenced to life in prison on Wednesday, and was given a parting gift in the courtroom.
The officer, who was not named, held up a tube of K-Y Jelly and said to 21-year-old Kevin Rojas:
“You are going to need a lot of this."
Rojas was found guilty in October the following:
- Attempted first-degree murder
- Attempted manslaughter
- Two counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer
- Grand theft auto
- Fleeing
Rojas reportedly looked "smug" when the Army veteran officer called him a "coward" in court.
The officer said:
“I will take those bullets instead of a fellow officer and an innocent bystander. When I brought the fight back to you, you ran like a coward.”
According to reports, Rojas did not speak at all during the sentencing and his family left the courtroom in tears.
