A Thanksgiving dinner ended in bloodshed when a Minneapolis woman killed her dinner guest for doing drugs at the table, and not offering her any.

47-year-old Anenia Marie Hare told police that she invited 69-year-old Edward Caliph to her apartment for a Thanksgiving meal.

Before they started to eat, Hare said she looked over and saw Caliph lighting up a crack pipe. She got angry that her guest didn't ask if he could light up, and that he didn't offer any crack to her.

Hare grabbed an antenna and a butcher knife, blocked the apartment door, and told Caliph he wasn't allowed to leave. She told police she was only trying to appear intimidating.

Caliph called for a neighbor to call 911 and broke a window with a vacuum cleaner in an attempt at escape. Hare grabbed him by shoulders and fell on top of him as Caliph tried to wrestle the knife away.

Hare said to police:

"I just grabbed him by the front and he went down. To me it just felt like I put him in a deeper hold or something."

After the struggle, Hare said that Caliph fell face down on the ground and "he started snoring."

She claims that she called 911 four times about the incident. Caliph was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy showed that he died of homicidal violence.

Hare was hit with a second-degree murder charge and is being held on $500,000 bail.
