Attorneys representing hundreds of people who were at the country music concert shooting in Las Vegas have filed suit in Los Angeles. Lawyer Chad Pinkerton says about two-thirds of his clients live in California.
"What we're going to show in this case, is that the defendants did not keep these people safe. The security was an utter failure. They had no plan."
The lawsuit includes 450 people who were either shot, trampled or suffered PTSD from the shooting. The lawsuit blames MGM for its security procedures and the concert promoter for limited exits at the venue.
The Houston-based lawyer says that they filed in Los Angeles because so many the plaintiffs live in California. They also want a court and jury who wouldn't be influenced by the casino giant in Nevada that is known to be active in many political causes and is the largest employer in the state.
MGM Resorts says it does not discuss ongoing lawsuits with the media. The company has placed the blame for the shooting that left 58 people dead and hundreds more wounded on the gunman, Stephen Paddock.
