L.A. Prosecutors Ready for Hollywood Sex Cases

A special group of prosecutors has been assembled to consider criminal charges stemming from investigations into reports of sexual abuse in the entertainment industry, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said.

"I have assigned the group of veteran sex crimes prosecutors to work together to ensure a uniformed approach to the legal review and possible prosecution of any case that meets both the legal and factual standards for criminal prosecution," D.A. Jackie Lacey said in a statement.

No cases have been presented for consideration, but said the unit had been in contact with the Los Angeles and Beverly Hills police departments.

Detectives at both departments have been investigating reports filed by people who work in the movie and television industries.
