Today LAPD Chief Charlie Beck lashed out at Capt. Lillian Carranza's claims that the department had cooked the books, downplaying violent crime statistics:
"They are not only lies, but they are damn lies. If I'm cooking the books, I'm not doing a good job. I am confident that there is no purposeful misclassification."
