After a lengthy ski season lasted well into summer, Tahoe-area resort operators are getting ready to kick off the 2017 - 2018 winter season.  Boreal Mountain Resort is opening up the ski runs tomorrow.  The Castle Peak lift will operate from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

A DJ will be spinning out on hill and in the snow for Boreal's opening.  Skiers and snowboarders can hit the slopes of Heavenly, Northstar, and Squaw Valley-Alpine Meadows on November 17th.  Mount Rose in Reno opened last week.

Sierra ski operators say they received anywhere from eight to 16 inches of snow during the storm Friday into Saturday.  The fresh powder is helping to form a "nice base that will stick."
