A Brea man drove his car through marchers at an immigration rally in Southern California.
Police arrested the driver, Daniel Wenzek for assault with a deadly weapon.
He has been released as police investigate, but they say at this point he didn't actually intend to harm anyone and that he may have been just caught up in the middle of protesters.
Spokesman for Unite Here Local 11 Andrew Cohen says the demonstration was to urge Representative Ed Royce to support an existing temporary immigration program for Central American citizens.
A video he released on Twitter shows marchers pounding on the hood of the car.
“We ran over, fearing the worst. I think a lot of people have Charlottesville in our minds.”
