L.A. Brush Fires Extinguished

Traffic was stopped on the westbound side of the freeway but was allowed through on the eastbound side. By about 9 a.m., both fires had been extinguished, and traffic was being allowed through once again on the westbound side.

Three people regarded as possible witnesses to the Granada Hills brushers were interviewed by authorities and released, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

About 9 a.m., a brush fire was reported about five miles east of the Granada Hills brushers, near the 11700 block of Foothill Boulevard and the Hansen Dam Recreation Area. The fire scorched about two acres, and was extinguished in about an hour. No structures were threatened.
