Firefighters Extinguish Two Brush Fires Along 118 Freeway

GRANADA HILLS (CNS) - Firefighters today extinguished two brush fires along a section of the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway in Granada Hills and a third brusher about an hour later near the Hansen Dam Recreation area.

The Granada Hills blazes were reported about 8 a.m. One fire scorched a half-acre of brush near the westbound freeway at Hayvenhurst Avenue and a smaller fire scorched some vegetation near the eastbound freeway at Woodley Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Traffic was stopped on the westbound side of the freeway but was allowed through on the eastbound side. By about 9 a.m., both fires had been extinguished, and traffic was being allowed through once again on the westbound side.

About 9 a.m., a brush fire was reported about five miles east of there, near the 11700 block of Foothill Boulevard and the Hansen Dam Recreation Area. The fire scorched about two acres, and was extinguished in about an hour. No structures were threatened.
