Twentynine Palms Attempted Kidnapping Suspect ID'd by Police

Police have identified a kidnapping suspect after a 14-year-old girl escaped from him at a home in Twentynine Palms on Thursday. Authorities say 43-year-old Freddie Day came to the teenager's door asking for help to jumpstart his car.

She refused, saying no one else was home at the time who could help him. She watched Day walk away and then reentered her home. It was only after she entered her bedroom that she realized Day was behind her.

Day allegedly told the juvenile that he could rape and killed her. He then allegedly grabbed the teenager and "bear-hugged" her who then responded by grabbing him by the throat. When Day released her, she rand to the kitchen where she picked up a knife.

The suspect fled the scene. Deputies searched the neighborhood but were unable to locate Day.

Anyone with information related to the investigation, or the whereabouts of Freddie Day, is asked to contact the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Morongo Basin Station at (760)366-4175. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous may contact We-Tip at 1-888-78-CRIME orwww.wetip.com
