NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell says the league believes everyone should stand for the national anthem. At a news conference at the owners' annual meeting today, Goodell says team owners want to work with players who are concerned about social issues.
Goodell said an important part of the NFL to stand for the anthem and honor the flag and country. He said fans expect that from the league. He did not say whether the league would force players to stand during the anthem.
President Trump lashed out on Twitter today against the NFL for not forcing players to stand for the anthem. He called it "total disrespect for our great country."
