Baby Otters Born in Santa Barbara

The Santa Barbara Zoo has shared photos of three Asian small-clawed otters!

The tiny pups (two girls and one boy) were born to first-time parents Gail and Peeta and are together in a den away from the view of visitors.

Fun fact from the zoo: this is the first time in 6 years that Asian-small clawed otter pups have been at the park!

Zoo's Curator of Mammals Michele Green says the babies were all born in mom's nesting box with papa Peeta there during the birth.

"The parents didn't come out to greet us and then we heard squeaks. That's how we knew Gail had given birth."
