A wall inside the front door of Ventura County Fire Station 42 in Moorpark was dedicated Thursday to Firefighter Ryan Osler, who died a year ago while driving to a fire in Lompoc.
“This was our first true traumatic line of duty death, “ said Ventura County Fire Chief Mark Lorenzen, who said members of the Department were deeply affected by the loss.
Osler was 38-years-old when he was killed in a vehicle accident, and had served on the Department for 18-years.
“He loved his family, he loved his job, he loved his brothers and sisters at the station here,” Lorenzen said. “He was hard working and dedicated, and a good human being.”
The memorial wall was created by Osler’s colleagues at the station, and it includes a display of Osler’s badge and helmet, and the American flag that covered his casket.
