Charges Filed in Sherman Oaks Mother’s Murder

A man was charged Thursday with murdering his wife in Sherman Oaks — hours after she asked police for an emergency protective order.

Aurelio Teran, 38, also faces charges of dissuading a witness, child abuse, spousal abuse, and making criminal threats, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Teran was arrested last month after LAPD detectives said he tried to commit suicide in Camarillo — first by attempting to slash his wrists, then by stepping into traffic.

Police said his wife, Viridiana, 32, went to the North Hollywood Division August 25 to report an assault and filed for an emergency protective order.

She told officers - who had escorted her home - she planned to spend the night in a motel with her 12-year-old son.

She was stabbed to death early the next morning.

The son wasn’t hurt.

Teran could face up to 25-years-to-life in prison if he’s convicted.
