Los Angeles County officially wants to be Amazon's second home. The Board of Supervisors voted today to put together a regional bid to try and win the online retail giant's second headquarters. Hilda Solis and Kathryn Barger called it a "once-in-a-lifetime" economic opportunity. They recommended that the search for a suitable location and possible partners begin immediately.
They said their priorities are safe neighborhoods, good, affordable housing and access to top-notch educational institutions. A number of cities within the county are already making moves to host the facility, which is expected to generate as many as 50,000 jobs.
