Olympics President Visits L.A.

The president of the International Olympic Committee visited Los Angeles Monday to finalize the agreement for L.A. to host the 2028 Olympic Games.

"I've come here first of all to say congratulations Los Angeles," said Thomas Bach at an appearance with Mayor Eric Garcetti at City Hall.

"You made it possible to bring the games back to your wonderful city," he said.

Bach said the Committee’s decision to award the 2024 and 2028 games simultaneously was a, “golden opportunity,” but something that might not happen again.

Garcetti said he hoped the excitement about the games would help to speed the completion of infrastructure projects already in the works.

"I think it's going to be a spark to accelerate what we already have approved," he said.
