LAX Forecasts 888,000 Passengers For Labor Day Weekend

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Los Angeles International Airport officials are forecasting that 888,000 passengers will pass through LAX over the four-day holiday weekend beginning today.

If that forecast holds true, the number would be a 4.1 percent increase over last Labor Day's 853,000-passenger count. Today is expected to be the busiest day at LAX, with more than 239,000 travelers, followed by Monday with just over 236,000.

“This Labor Day weekend, we know that hundreds of thousands of travelers will pass through and travel to LAX, and we want to make sure their travel is as fun and stress-free as possible," said Trevor Daley, deputy executive director for external affairs at LAX. “We encourage travelers to take public transportation or the Flyaway, follow our tips for easier car trips, and most of all give yourself plenty of time to get to your gate.''

Officials at Los Angeles World Airports said extra Airport Police traffic officers will be stationed throughout the Central Terminal Area to help keep traffic moving.

“Traffic officers will be placed curbside to direct traffic to and from the curb. This ensures cars are staged as close together as possible and stopped parallel to the curb in order to maximize curb usage,'' Airport Police Lt. Edward Martinez said.
