Southern California-based In-N-Out is in a heated burger battle. The burger joint, most famous for its Double-Double, is suing Denver-based Smashburger. In-N-Out head honchos say the Smashburger Triple Double burger is too similar to its iconic burger and believes the fast-food joint is trying to fool people into thinking its burger is an In-N-Out product.
The privately held In-N-Out has a reputation for fiercely protecting its brand from copycats, even suing restaurants for using similar decor, uniforms and logos.
