The mother of two young children was killed and her husband wounded after the family drove through a neighborhood in South Los Angeles.
Sgt. Thomas Bojorquez says the family was driving through the neighborhood with the mother in the passenger side, when gunfire came from another vehicle. The woman died at the scene.
The wounded man has been hospitalized and is expected to survive. A 5-year-old child suffered cuts from broken glass, while the other, a 3-year-old child was unhurt.
No description of the vehicle that fired or suspects has been released.
No possible motive for the shooting has been released, but Bojorquez says it was likely gang-related.
