Are you having a hard time keeping up with all the new, hot parenting trends?
Don't worry, you are not the only one.
Do you feel like a bad parent when you see all those posts on social media of your friends doing all those fun, trendy activities with their kids?
Don't. Those things really don't mean a thing.
Like smash cakes.
(First, if that just made you smile, stop reading. You are not going to enjoy the opinions expressed from here on out.)
What is a smash cake? It is a separate cake that you buy for your kid to destroy on their first birthday even though they have no idea what is going on.
Are we really spending money on things simply to get destroyed now? Really?
Ok, maybe you liked your smash cake experience.
Whatever.
If you are an Elf on the Shelf-er, knock it off.
The pictures and shenanigans are for you. They aren't for your kids. We both know it.
Stop lying to yourself.
Fine, you want to say that it is for your kids? Is it really child appropriate to make fun of the elf doing drugs, dying in a variety of ways, or worse? No, it isn't.
Stop it.
Oh, yea. When you take your kids to Disneyland, stop posting about it.
We don't need the pictures. We don't need the videos. We don't care.
Millions of people go every single year. Every kid is excited. Their reaction is not that special.
Also, if they're like three years old or under, they aren't going to remember it. So, yea, you just spent like $1,000 for nothing.
Just, just...ugh...stop it.
