A Wisconsin man is lucky to be alive after a freak accident with a nail gun hit him in the heart.
Doug Bergeson says that while he was working on his home, he accidentally dropped his nail gun shooting a three-inch framing nail straight to his heart.
The nail pierced his heart at the speed of a 22 bullet and luckily Bergeson knew to not pull out the nail on his own.
He says he wasn't in much pain and was able to drive himself 12 miles to the nearest hospital.
Doctors say the difference between life and death was the difference of the thickness of a piece of printer paper.
Bergeson was rushed into emergency surgery and has since recovered.
“Must have had somebody watching over me. Because it was close.”
