Suspect in Standoff in Pacific Palisades Found Dead

A suspect who barricaded himself inside a huge mansion in Pacific Palisades was found dead after an hours-long standoff and shootout with a LAPD SWAT team according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Officials wouldn't say whether the deceased had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, or from police gunfire.

The standoff occurred at a sprawling two-story mansion in the 1600 block of Alta Mura. Police fired at least fifty rounds of tear gas into the residence to try and flush the man out.

The incident began early Thursday morning after a domestic disturbance between a couple involved in an on-again, off-again relationship with each other. Police say the woman called authorities saying her boyfriend had tried to shoot her.

The LAPD said the woman was safely removed from the home while the suspect remained inside the home with a gun. Investigators got in contact with the man, but he ceased communicating with police shortly before 6 a.m..

Three armored LAPD vehicles and a remote-controlled robot were seen patrolling the hilltop property as the standoff continued.

Police announced they found the suspect inside, dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound shortly before 11 a.m..
