Dealing With Disappointment & Overparenting With The Dad Podcast

Finding the proper balance while parenting can be very hard to achieve.

You want to help, but you don't want to coddle.

You want to be there, but you don't want to suffocate them.

What do you do?  How do you get it right?  Well, we have a few tips.

First, learn when and how to praise and compliment.  Acknowledge when your children do something right, but don't praise them for every single thing.

Second, don't insert yourself into your children's struggles.  It is natural to want to try to help them with projects and other tasks, but inserting yourself into it all without them wanting you to can cause resentment.

Third, much like success, appreciate the faults and failures of life.  Teach them the value of failure and how it can be used as a learning moment.

Finally, trust them to be responsible.
