Pence Denies Rumors of a 2020 Presidential Run

U.S. Vice President Mike Pence is fighting rumors saying he is preparing for a 2020 presidential run and that the suggestion is "disgraceful and offensive."

This comes in response to a New York Times report that says some Republicans were working towards a campaign and were operating as if President Trump were not involved.

The report says multiple Pence advisers told party donors he'd run if Trump didn't.

It also claims Pence not only kept a full political calendar but also created an independent power base, including a political fund-raising group called the "Great America Committee".

Pence hit back, calling the accusations fake news and that he and his team were focused on Trump's agenda and a re-election in 2020.

"The allegations in this article are categorically false and represent just the latest attempt by the media to divide this Administration."

New York Times spokeswoman Danielle Rhoades Ha says the news organization stands by their coverage.
