Plan to Change Citizenship Rules Draws Ire of Immigrant-Rights Groups

Immigrant-rights supported in Los Angeles say they're worried families might be shut out by President Donald Trump's new plan for citizenship.

Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles say Trump's plan to prioritize skilled workers who speak English would create problems for families to reunite.

The political director for CHIRLA says the bill is short-sighted.

"Essentially what you're saying is that you're closing the door to the rest of the world. So very much a nativist ideology."

The Trump administration defended the ban, saying the change to legal immigration policy would help more Americans find better job opportunities.
