Mayor Eric Garcetti stopped by the Production Kick-Off Ceremony for Will & Grace to declare August 2nd 2017 Will & Grace Day.
The show is coming back to NBC after 11 years, with the same cast, creators and director. On Tuesday the team cut a ribbon to symbolize the start of production on the new 10-episode limited series set to air on the broadcast network in the 2017-18 TV season.
The mayor presented the cast and creators with a plaque declaring August 2nd Will & Grace day. He thanked the show for their groundbreaking characters that put gay men in the main narrative of a TV show.
The cast members came together to do a 'go out and vote' advertisement during the 2016 election and their chemistry impressed NBC executives enough that they decided to bring the show back.
The show returns to NBC on Sept. 28.
