House Approves $1.6B Spending Bill for Border Wall

The House has voted to approve a spending bill with $1.6 billion to put towards the wall along the US-Mexico border.

President Trump has said in the past that he would make Mexico pay for the wall, but this bill will use American tax payer money to construct the border.

The bill passed 235-192 after being stuck in with an added measure that combined funding bills for the Pentagon, energy and water, legislative branch, military construction and Veterans Affairs.

The $658 billion defense spending legislation was $27 billion more than Trump's initial budget request, and would give the military more fighter jets, ships, helicopters and troops requested by the Pentagon.
