It sounds like LA Mayor Garcetti is resigned to the city getting the Olympics in 2028. In an interview with Buzzfeed, Garcetti said that 2024 for LA "is not probably most likely to happen."
Los Angeles and Paris have both been competing for the 2024 Summer Olympics, and while the International Olympic Committee recently announced they plan on awarding both 2024 and 2028 Summer Games at the same time later this year, Paris has emerged as the odds-on favorite for 2024.
The International Olympic Committee voted earlier this month to break with tradition and award two Summer Olympics at its scheduled meeting in Lima Peru in September. Paris' leaders have consistently said they are only interested in hosting the 2024 event, while LA 2024 leaders have struck a conciliatory tone toward hosting the 2028 games.
