Comic Con Inspired Foods

To get in the spirit of San Diego Comic Con, local restaurants are creating foods and drinks inspired by comics, movies and television!

So if you're down at San Diego, check out these foodie nerd dreams come true:

Captain America Waffles:

Café 222 plans to make breakfast super again!

The restaurant located at 222 Island Ave. in downtown’s Marina District, will created this colorful waffle dish inspired by Captain America 

The dish features malted waffles shaped like Cap’s shield, topped with fresh berries and whipped cream for that signature red, white and blue look. 

The waffles are on the kid’s menu, and available in limited quantities from July 19 to July 23.

Drax the Destroyer Burger:

The Manchester Grand Hyatt, features the “Drax the Destroyer Burger,” which pays homage to the Marvel character in Guardians of the Galaxy. 

The big burger features angus beef with chorizo, bacon, pepper jack cheese, cheddar cheese, pickled onions, sliced tomato and cilantro aioli, on a sun-dried tomato bun. 

The meal will run you $18, and comes with a Sam Adams Summer Ale.

The Manchester Grand Hyatt is also offering 21+ fanboys and fangirls several cocktails inspired by movie, TV and comic book characters. 

This includes “The White Walker,” a play on the otherworldly zombies from the HBO series, “Game of Thrones.”

The $10 drink has white rum mixed with coconut rum, shaken with pineapple juice, Tuaca and blue Curacao.

The Bristol Hotel (1055 First Ave.) in downtown San Diego will offer this cocktail – “The Golden Lasso of Truth” for $10 inspired by Wonder Woman.

The drink combines white rum, brandy, triple sec and lemon juice, topped with golden raw sugar and garnished with a candied twisted lemon peel. 

The Puesto offers “The Villain Taco” for $6.

Featuring carne asada wrapped in crispy melted cheese, topped with pork adobo, avocado, crispy onions, cucumber crèma and cilantro.
