Motorcyclist dies in failed stunt on I-15

A motorcyclist doing stunts amidst a group of bikers on a California highway has died after falling to the pavement while trying to stand on his moving bike.

California Highway Patrol Sgt. Nathan Baer says the man suffered major head trauma, despite the fact the man was wearing a helmet.

Baer said the rider was part of a large group of about 50 motorcyclists who were seen performing stunts on Southbound I-15 in Riverside County on Sunday.

The crash prompted his fellow motorcyclists to block lanes, causing traffic to back up for several miles.

Baer told the Riverside Press-Enterprise that the CHP has noticed a recent uptick in reckless motorcycle riding on the I-15 and on other freeways throughout inland Southern California.
