Officials are looking to prevent suicides on the Colorado Street Bridge by covering the iconic bridge with temporary fencing.
A temporary fix will be installed first - authorities hope to cover the bridge's 20 alcoves which make it easier for people to climb over the existing iron fence and jump. The city says there has been an increasing amount of jumping attempts in the first half of 2017.
Between 2006 and 2016, 28 people have jumped from the bridge and died. Pasadena police have successfully talked down another 21 would-be jumpers between 2011 and 2015.
Officials are looking into a more permanent solution. Some ideas that have been offered include a curved iron-linked fence or even a net below the bridge.
