The Global Harbour mall in Shanghai may have found the solution for bored men shopping with their spouses.
The booths, called "husband pods" bring the tired boyfriends and husbands into a clear enclosure with a plush seat in front of a computer gaming rig.
On Weibo, China's largest social media platform, users have pointed out how sexist it is:
"Well my boyfriend often asks me to accompany him for shopping trips."
"I'm a girl and I want to go in to play too."
"I don't like shopping but my husband enjoys it...guess I know what I'll be doing next time he shops."
Others had mixed feelings on the matter:
"I'm going to accompany my girlfriend to the mall every day."
"I would be willing to go shopping with my girlfriend if I could even get one."
"If my husband tells me he'd rather go game than shop with me I'll get really mad."
