International Olympic Committee to Award 2024, 2028 Olympics in September

Olympics watch continues as the International Olympic Committee voted today to award both L.A. and Paris either the 2024 or 2028 Summer Olympics games at a meeting in September.

The IOC members voted to seek a consensus three-way deal between the two cities and the IOC executive board. The board approved the double award following a presentation from both cities about their 2024 hosting plan.

While Paris is widely seen as a favorite for the 2024 Olympics, Los Angeles isn't giving up hope yet. Mayor Eric Garcetti was at the meeting, representing the city's vision for 2024. Mayor Garcetti appeared on stage with Anne Hidalgo of Paris on stage holding hands to celebrate today's decision.

The next meeting will occur on Sept. 13th in Lima Peru.
