Thousands of Fireworks Light Up LA Sky Despite Possible Fines

Thousands of fireworks went off all over Los Angeles during yesterday's Fourth of July celebrations, though many of them weren't totally legal.

In a video captured by AIR7 HD flying over downtown Los Angeles, it appears that several neighborhoods decided to light up the sky despite the threat of hefty fines---anywhere between $500 and $1,000.

Many residents describe the sounds as sounding like "war zones" outside their homes because of the devices their neighbors were letting off.

Los Angeles authorizes warned that those setting off the fireworks weren't just doing something illegal, they were potentially putting themselves and others in danger.

The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department are asking that anyone who sees someone using illegal explosives to contact them.
