Burbank Brush Fire 80% Contained - Evacuations Lifted

Firefighters responded to a three-alarm brush fire that spread quickly in the Verdugo hills above Burbank in the area of Kenneth and Irving Drives on Wednesday.

The fire, which originated on Hamline Place around 3 pm, prompted evacuations of homes on Viewcrest Drive and Howard Court for a time, but those were lifted shortly before 9 pm. About 50 homes were evacuated because of the fire according to Burbank Police.

Homeowners were grateful to see firefighters respond so quickly to douse the blaze. The Los Angeles Fire Department came in with air and ground crews to assist Burbank's fire department.

Burbank police said that firefighters worked through the night to monitor the fire that is now 80% contained.
