World's Ugliest Dog has Been Crowned

The annual competition to find the world's ugliest dog happened over the weekend and a new....uh....winner was crowned!

Meet Martha, a 3-year-old 125 pound Neapolitan Mastiff who used her "lollygagging youth" to take home the gold in the 29th annual World's Ugliest Dog Contest.

Her bio on the contest website describes her as being "125 pounds of drooling, snoring, gassy, loud and silly girl".

Martha was brought to a California rescue group with chronic pain and was nearly blind.

Her family received a $1,500, a trophy and they get to head to New York to go on media appearances.

The World's Ugliest Dog competition is part of the Sonoma-Marin Fair held in Petaluma, California and features pups for adoption and previously adopted pets that are then judges on their appearance and personality.

CEO of the Sonoma-Marin Fair Erin Post says this fair is a wonderful thing for the dogs.

"We’re proud to celebrate all dogs and pets by showing that no matter their imperfections, they are adoptable, lovable and a great addition to any family."

In second place was Moe, a 16-year-old Brussels Griffon-pug mix and third went to Chase, a 14-year-old Chinese Crested-Harke mix, took third place.
