Homicide investigators with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department were expected to reveal Monday some of what led to the arrest of Aramazd Andressian, Sr., the father of a 5-year-old boy who disappeared while in his care two months ago.
Andressian, Sr. was arrested in Las Vegas Friday and was being held in lieu of $10-million bail, according to officials and jail records.
Other law enforcement officials said the body of Aramazd Andressian, Jr. has not been found.
“After reviewing all of the evidence in this case, homicide investigators presented the facts to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office and obtained a murder filing against the suspect,” LASD said in a statement.
The boy was last seen at Disneyland April 20 with his father and grandmother, according to the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.
The father said he had ingested prescription drugs when he was found unconscious in a park in South Pasadena April 22, and detectives revealed in May the father’s gray BMW had been doused with gasoline inside and out.
“As to how those items play into what occurred, he has not been cooperative, so we don’t know,” said Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau Lt. Joe Mendoza, who’s been leading the investigation.
No evidence has been found that the boy was harmed, but no leads have brought investigators any closer to finding the boy, Mendoza said.
The father claimed during an interview with detectives that he and his son were together at Lake Cachuma in Santa Barbara on April 21, then went to the South Pasadena park together the following morning.
Detectives have been unable to confirm the boy was seen anywhere after the Disneyland visit, Mendoza said.
