Firefighters make progress against fires despite rising temperatures

A brush fire that's burned at least 800 acres and destroyed at least two outbuildings near Lake Castaic is still only about 60% contained as of Monday morning according to the LA County Fire Department.

Fire officials say that the fire started on Saturday afternoon on a bank of the lake that had limited access near the 5 Freeway and Ridge Route Road. At least 450 firefighters from the US Forest Service and the LA County Fire Department have been called out to deal with the fire.

One firefighter has suffered a minor injury while battling the blaze.

Recreational boats were allowed to get on the lake via the western ramps according to officials. No road closures were reported.

There's no word on what may have started the fire.
