Fiery wrong-way crash in Fullerton closes 5 Freeway

Two people were killed in Fullerton on Monday after a car that was going northbound on the southbound side of the Santa Ana Freeway collided with an SUV that burst into flames. 

Authorities said the crash occurred in the early morning hours on the southbound side of the Santa Ana (5) Freeway at Magnolia Avenue. The Honda sedan was driving northbound at about 100 mph in the southbound lanes, until it crashed into the SUV, leaving debris in all lanes. 

The drivers of both vehicles were killed and the SUV burst into flames. 

The man driving the Honda sedan was identified as a man in his mid-20s, who died at the scene while the driver of the SUV was a man in his 50s according to the CHP. 

The CHP closed all southbound lanes of just north of the Riverside (91) Freeway after the accident until just after 7:30 am Monday morning.
